CamKerala Cricket Club
Welcome to CamKerala

CamKerala is a Cambridge based cricket team comprising of players who have a link with the Indian province of Kerala. God's own country; as advertisers call Kerala, gave the world the first elected communist government and it is also the land of few popular cricketers like Sreesanth, Sanju Samson, Sachin Baby and the latest sensation Karun Nair.

Kerala known for its palm-lined beaches and backwaters, a network of canals. Inland are the Western Ghats, mountains whose slopes support tea, coffee and spice plantations as well as wildlife. National parks like Eravikulam and Periyar, plus Wayanad and other sanctuaries, are home to elephants, langur monkeys and tigers, and also the very delicious Keralan cuisine. Malabar Fish Curry, Appams and Stew, are some globally popular dishes. Early writings and stone age carvings of Neolithic age obtained indicates that India's southwest coastal port Muziris, in Kerala, had established itself as a major spice trade centre from as early as 3000 BC, which marked the beginning of the spice trade. Kerala, referred to as the land of spices or as the "Spice Garden of India", was the place traders and explorers wanted to reach, including Christopher Columbus, Vasco da Gama, and many others. All of them where after a small round spice called Black Gold aka Black Pepper. Those who did find black gold eventually returned to Europe extremely wealthy as it was a spice only royalty of Europe had access to. Kerala now houses International Pepper exchange in Kochi, established in 1997 has been described as the world's only pepper exchange, and often compared (perhaps generously) to the New York Stock Exchange.

Currently we have two men's team who attempt to take the T20 approach to 40 over cricket. It comprises of grizzled veterans and tearaway rookies who all share a passion of cricket. We invite all new players who have something in common with us.
